Dragon Age Graphics Enhancement

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

Dragon Age Origins isn’t a new game. With that being said, its visuals may leave a bit to be desired by some looking for something a bit sharper. The Dragon Age Graphics Enhancement mod cleans up the look of the game with sharpening, saturation, anti-aliasing, and more. It provides a much crisper look for those who think the game is looking a bit dull.

You could never go wrong with some better visuals, and this is a perfect fix.

The Phoenix Armory for Females

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

Now the vanilla armors are great and all, but nothing beats a hand crafted armor set that a dedicated modder has slaved over for hours.

What This kit contains:

  • Twin Phoenix Claw Daggers and their superior versions.
  • Phoenix Eye Bow and its superior version.
  • Phoenix Arrows
  • Phoenix-Recruit Armor

Madd Gift Guide

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

The Madd Gift Guide is particularly useful for those trying to max out their relationships. Choosing the right gifts for people isn’t always the easiest thing, so this removes the confusion. Added to each gift item is the name of the person it’s intended for prior to its description. There is even added information for those items that are plot related.

No more confusion and having someone dislike your expensive gift.

Grey Warden Runic Armor

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

Another gorgeous armor set. Like the one previous, this mod is very thematically friendly. There is nothing worse than out of place textures on mods. The creator this mod has kindly listed a few bugs and fixes,

Q: Armor and weapons lost after Dwarven noble origin.
A: Wait with adding the armor until you have finished the origin, then activate the mod.

Q: Separate items are not showing/looking wrong.
A: There may be some conflicts with other mods (it is noticed it may not work with “Adonnay’s Weapon Replacer” and “Duncan’s Armor” mods).

Q: Armor and weapons do not appear.
A1: You have to deactivate mod before creating your character, after the character is created and game is saved you can activate it.
A2: There is a rare chance that the mod may not work with some game versions, this is not a bug of the mod, this is a problem of your current game patch. In this case you may try to add the items through console commands by “Additem script” mod from this site (detailed instructions are in mod’s page).

Extra Dog Slot

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

Want to bring your dog with you but don’t want to sacrifice another party member such as Wynne or Sten? The Extra Dog Slot mod will solve this problem for you. This mod turns your summon slot into a spot for your dog, with full control as if it were a normal party member.

That means you can take full advantage of his skills, while also interacting with him normally. You can send him away if you don’t need him, but a new Dog Whistle Item will let you call him back whenever you like.

Grey Wardens of Ferelden

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

Another splendid weapon and armor set that is very lore friendly and looks like it belongs in the game. It is usable by all your party members as well so you can all strut around in matching swanky armor. There is nothing better in a tactics based game than coordination. This one has alternative versions to boot!

Assassin Armor and Rapiers

There are quite a few armors available to players in Dragon Age: Origins, but not many are as sleek looking as players’s would like. It’s difficult to look exceptionally badass when playing as a Rogue, so the Assassin Armor and Rapiers mod helps out.

The mod includes leather armor for human’s only. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with other races. It also includes a set of Rapiers. Unlike standard swords, these are programmed as longer daggers, meaning they don’t rely on your strength stat. Instead, they rely on your dexterity.

Do note that you need to grab these items before the siege chapter. They were made for a new game, and you can miss the chest (located in the treasury room) that holds them.

Lock Bash

Having to invest in lock-picking skills can be a real pain. With all of your weaponry and spells, you should be able to open up anything in your way. The Lock Bash mod helps to make that happen. Players will now be able to break open locks and bash through doors in Dragon Age Origins.

The ability relies on your primary stat. The higher it is, the better your chance at bashing the lock and not breaking any items that may be in a chest. Also, this mod makes it so that you can order others to open a lock for you if they already have a skill. The added bonus of not having to constantly switch between characters is much appreciated.

Kirkwall Exports

Chances are if you have played Dragon Age: Origins, you have played its sequel. This mod adds some of the weapons and armor from Dragon Age 2. Best of both worlds, eh?

It needs to be noted that not all the armors are compatible with character variables like race and gender.

No Helmet Hack 1_6

Everyone gets sick of ugly helms. We’re forced to slather them all over our faces, and sometimes endure some horridly ugly headpieces in exchange for awesome stats. With this mod, you can disable your helmet’s visuals, and just stare at your beautiful face all day instead.

Armor of the Devout

This lovely armor set was tailor made for Leliana, however it can be used by anyone. This outfit does not have a helmet so it is best used in conjunction with the No Helmet mod mentioned earlier.

Armor of the Sten

This mod adds armor designed especially for Sten… to give him a bit more personality (No, not breasts). The collection gives Sten a more cultured look, if you’re not into his usual prison garb. These particular character based armors add a new depth to Bioware’s beloved characters.

Wings of Velvet

Wings of Velvet is a must have for any mage worth their salt. Look at it! It’s exceptional. It stands out, but not in a gaudy way. This one adds so much color and splendor to the magic wielders and, perhaps more rarely, a regality to the mage class. Anyone who has played Dragon Age: Origins knows that it is a rare notion to come by in the armors and the treatment of mages.

Armor of the Black Fox

Any budding rogue would kill to get their hands on this armor. The modder behind this awesome armor is kind enough to have told us the statistic values.

The armor and weapons have tier 7 base stats (tier 9 in Awakening) along with the following properties:

The Fox’s Arc: longbow
+3 dmg, rapid aim, +10% range crit

The Fox’s Wit: dagger (1H)
+2 dmg, +1 stam regen, interrupts casting

The Fox’s Betrayal: dagger (1H)
+2 dmg, +5% melee crit, +25% crit/back dmg

The Fox’s Chain: light armor chest
+4 dex, +4 cun, +2 stam regen, +15 phys resist

The Fox’s Boots: light armor boots
+2 cun, improved trap detection, +15% dodge

The Fox’s Gloves: light armor gloves
+2 dex, +2 armor pen, reduces hostility

Armor of the Black Fox set bonus: +3 dex, +3 cun

Corrupted Warden Armor

This sick looking armor set has been corrupted by the Fade. It sports a possessed look as well as several bonuses to the player. It does have a risk, though. Wearing this set is a risk to the character’s willpower, so keep that in mind. Making it a bit more special is the fact that it can be worn by anyone regardless of race, class, or gender.

The Corrupted Warden Armor set includes:

  • Corrupted Warden Helm
  • Corrupted Warden Chestplate
  • Corrupted Warden Gloves
  • Corrupted Warden Boots
  • Corrupted Warden Greatsword

There is a set bonus for wearing all four armor items.

Advanced Tactics

The Advanced Tactics mod is perfect for players who like to have a much more fine-tuned experience when playing Dragon Age: Origins. The mod not only fixes bugs that are found in the vanilla version of the tactics mechanics, it also adds a plethora of new options. New qualifiers and factors were added in so you can prepare your party for literally any situation that may arise during your playthrough.

Skip the Fade

It turns out that there are a lot of people out there who aren’t fans of the Fade in Dragon Age: Origins. This demonic labyrinth brings the story to a screeching halt as you are tasked with escaping its confines. It’s a good thing that a modder felt the same way and created a means to skip the fade. This will fast forward you to each of your companion’s nightmares, collect all transformations for you, and take you to the final fight.

Auto Loot

Looting takes up a lot of a player’s time in any RPG, and it’s no different in Dragon Age: Origins. Having to take the time to send companions to do your bidding as well as open a few chests yourself can grow tiresome. The Auto Loot mod does all of the heavy lifting for you. It scans for lootable containers then automatically sends your companions to collect the spoils. If you have a rogue with you, it will even scan for locked containers. Not too shabby.

Improved Atmosphere

This particular mod doesn’t change gameplay, but it does allow for a much more immersive experience when you’re just lounging around. The Improved Atmosphere mod adds new items for NPCs to interact with, as well as increases the amount of people in the world. It helps to make the game feel more alive.

White Teeth

The White Teeth mod does nothing more than give characters white teeth. No longer will you have to act like you love a companion with horribly rotten dentistry.

Character Respecialization

This handy mod lets you respec both your created character and any party members. You can reset base attributes, specialization points, spells, talents and skills. You’ll have full access to every point you spent, and can redistribute them as you see fit. Perfect if you’re finding your characters didn’t quite turn out like you wanted.

Forced Deathblows

You know those flashy finishing moves in Dragon Age Origins? Well how would you like those to activate much more often. That’s exactly what this mod does. You can make it so only higher rank enemies get killed by a deathblow, or you can even set if so every single enemy ends with a deathblow.

Elvhenan Weapons

This mod gives you access to some powerful ancient elven weapons. The weapons are incredibly useful against darkspawn, with the weaken Darkwspawn skill on each and +6 damage to Darkspawn. For all the Darkspawn you run into in Origins, you’ll want one of these powerful weapons by your side.

Extended Dog Talents

If you’re loyal pooch is one of you’re favorite characters in battle this one’s for you. This Dragon Age: Origins mod add four additional talents on for your dog, two passive and two active. He gets a bonus to stamina and mental resistance, also getting a Frightening Howl skill and a Ferocious Bite one. Make your dog a powerhouse.

The Winter Forge

The Winter Forge give you an add-on that allows you to customize the magical elements of your weapons and their exterior appearance. If you’ve got a certain weapon or piece of armor you’re fond of, you can use this to customize its magical attributes to your hearts content and make it one of your best weapons.

Raptures Witcher

If one epic fantasy game just isn’t enough, you can add on items from the Witcher series to your Dragon Age experience. This mod adds on a myriad of weapons and options. Here’s what you can get.

  • An aesthetics pack which includes hair and eye variations.
  • Witcher’s silver and steel blades.
  • Ravens Armor (neutral).
  • Geralt’s Excellent Leather Jacket.

Karmas Origins Companions

Even though you already have a pretty good selection of party members, you can add on even more. With this you get the ability to recruit Cullen, Jowan, Gorim, Ser Gilmore, Tamlen, Soris, and Leske into your party as permanent companion, and Recruit Adela, a new female companion, and Ox, a new male companion. In addition you get items and quests to go along with each.

Lighting Enhanced

It may not change gameplay at all, but there’s enough to be said for just making your game looking better, espcially if you apply this mod in tandem with others. By customizing the lighting, you can make you’re game that much better to look at. Here’s what it’s basically adding.

  • Sharpening through Lumasharpen
  • DPX
  • Subtle Bloom
  • Tonemapping and Contrast adjustment
  • SMAA

Tombs of the Undead

Tombs of the Undead adds on another entire section to the game. It’s a set of three challenging dungeons that scale in difficulty and level. If you’re prepared for the challenge, there’s fun to be had in the Tombs of the Undead.

SerenityStore

If you’re looking for an easy way to get the best equipment in Dragon Age Origins, look no farther than SerenityStore. This mod adds on a character named Serenity who’ll give you all of the best equipment in the game, along with a handy chest next to her to store it all in.

Spell School – Divine

This Dragon Age: Origins mod give mages access to another school of spells, Divine. This school focuses on healing, buffing and supporting with a few powerful spells for controlling evil mixed in.

LW2 1.5 version is a very solid package to finish with after all. I'm quite curious about that, and I hope the project will be a success. Best war of the chosen mods I started my current LW2 campaign before WotC released, so I haven't tried that yet, but LW2 already extended the lifespan for X2 so much that I don't feel another iteration for the expansion is required, if it would come at the expense of delaying progress of Terra Invicta.

Armor of the Elven Warden

This sleek looking suit of armor is themed around the elves new place in the Grey Wardens. There are both light and medium armors available, that also serve a place in the lore of Dragon Age Origins.

The Magic Box

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

Another handy little items that lets you bring your favorite equipment up to your player level. Anyting set inside The Magic Box will automatically scale to whatever your current level is.

King Calenhad’s Tomb

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

This quest add-on give you the chance to explore the tomb of King Calenhad, after a mysterious earthquake has rocked the area around Lake Calenhad. It’s a fairly difficult adventure, meant for players at least at level 13.

Whispers of the Labyrinth

Best Dragon Age Origins Mods

If you’re a mage player, this mod will give you some new robes based on the original concept art for mages in Dragon Age Origins. There’s also multiple different colors you can choose from.

Pints and Quarts Tavern

A tavern sits on the road east of Redcliffe Village, where with this mod you can pick up five fully voiced adventures and 15 new areas to explore. You do need to be level 17 as it’s intended for higher level players, so make sure you’re prepared before picking anything up.

Sacred Ashes CG Faces

This mod changes the faces of the Warden, Morrigan, Sten and Leliana to more closely resemble the impressive Sacred Ashes CG trailer for the game. You can use this to get a look closer to what the game originally looked like.

Pineappletrees Vibrant Colors

For all your customization needs, this mod adds on a ton of cosmetic changes for your character. You’ll have access to a staggering 48 new hair and eyebrow colors, 40 new skin tones, and 30 new eye colors.

Universal Dye Kit

For the ultimate customization experience, you can grab this dye kit and make all of your eqiupment look exactly like you want it to. You can even use it on your entire party, essentially making a team of Power Rangers if that’s what you want to do.

Expanded Inventory

One of the biggest problems in RPGs is alwasy running out of room in your inventory. This mod instantly upgrades your inventory from the normal 70 to a total of 125. Grab this along with the Auto Loot mod and you’ll be able to grab every item you want without issue.

More Hairstyles

Perhaps no RPG will launch with enough hairstyles to satisfy our needs, but thanks to this mod, you can make Dragon Age: Origins a veritable salon. It adds dozens of hairstyles for every kind of character. Whether you need a fancy braid or a cool ponytail, it’s likely to have an option that will please.

Morrigan Restoration Patch

We could all use a little more Morrigan in our lives. This mod offers a complete Morrigan overhaul, fixing many issues with her dialogue triggering and adding missing scenes that were cut from the game. Overall, you’re going to be getting a lot more of her in your life.

Equal Love

This romance mod is all about adding more love options. It removes all gender blocks to the romance paths of Dragon Age: Origins, letting any gender woo any other. Keep in mind that this mod does not remove class or race restrictions from the mix.

Dragon Age Redesigned

This is a huge overhaul that changes over 1,000 in-game NPCs to better fit into the Dragon Age lore. They receive adjustments to their textures, personalities, facial proportions, and more. As comprehensive and impressive as it is though, the creator has one word of advice: “It isn’t recommended to use this mod on your first time playing the game. Bioware placed a lot of time into the character designs and you may miss out on nuances and other features that the original game may have.”

Unlock Specializations

True to its name, this mod will unlock all specializations for you, giving you free reign to be the hero as you see fit. Simple, sweet, and effective. Spread your wings, and do all the things.

CHANGE YOUR HERO HAIR AND FACE ANYWHERE IN THE GAME

Have you ever been playing Dragon Age: Origins and suddenly, out of nowhere, realized your character’s appearance is utterly unacceptable? It happens. We can’t all stare at the same face for 30+ hours of adventure. For those times, bust out this mod, and change your appearance anywhere in the game.

More Readable Fonts and UI

Between tons of abilities, piles of armor, and racks of weapons, there’s a lot to read in Dragon Age: Origins, and not all of it is easy on the eyes. Text can appear small, cramped, and difficult to decipher given the intricate font. This mod will clear it all up a little, increasing text size and spacing so that you can spend less time squinting at your screen.

Theta HD

Dragon Age: Origins doesn’t have mind-blowing textures, we can all admit that. They’re fairly low resolution, and can vary between objects in the world depending on their size. This mod adds better textures into the mix, making room for higher detail and more advanced lighting without causing performance problems.

Alistair’s Nightmare

This lore-friendly mod adds a new scene to the game, focusing solely on Alistair and his pains, fears, and thoughts following some tough in-game events. It’s not a huge addition, but a careful creation that fleshes out the motivations of this character.
