Hello Internet,
I'm hoping someone can help me speed up LAN file transfers between two Windows 10 pcs.
My tests:
The Wi-Fi Transfer application allows you to transfer files wirelessly between computers and smartphones. Supported devices It supports devices whose OS is the Windows 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10586) over. Sometimes devices whose OS was upgraded from Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 can't run as receiver.
Repeated 2.3 GB mp4 video file copy from PC1 to PC2 results in consistent 5MB/s throughput. With the specs on both pcs and the network (see below), I should have the bandwidth for somewhere around 200Mbs (25MBs) hopefully.. What could be the bottleneck? I'm using homegroup copy/paste for the file-transfer 'mechanism'. Both pcs experienced ~1-5% disk and network utilization for the transfer.. I would like that to greatly increase..
Rough Specs
PC1 Specs (Read PC): Nexus mods download history fallout 4 pc.
Wifi connection with 865Mbs speed and high quality connection
SSD with consistent 420Mbs reads on the 2.3 GB mp4 video file when the read is not involved in a network transfer
8 GB RAM (definitely not the problem)
CPU: Intel i5-4690k (definitely not the problem)
Virus Protection: windows defender
cpu utilization during transfer (25%.. no noticeable jump in cpu usage)
Network
Wifi. Consistent 860Mbs speed between both PC1 and PC2 with high quality connections.
PC2 Specs (Write PC):
Wifi connection with 865Mbs speed and high quality connection
SSD with consistent 200Mbs writes on the 2.3 GB mp4 video file when the write is not involved in a network transfer
8 GB RAM (definitely not the problem)
Bb 10 Os
CPU: Intel i7 6600u (shouldn't be a problem)
Virus Protection: mcafee total protection
Blackberry Link
CPU utilization during transfer (20%.. no noticeable jump in cpu usage)
