  1. The Witcher 3 Money
  2. Witcher 3 Merchant With Most Money

Game: The Witcher 3. Sets the money of the trader to 5000 crowns everytime you open the trade menu, last version still works for patch 1.31 and GOTY patch 1.31.

Unlimited Money Exploit
[edit]

This exploit can earn you 1000 crowns per minute. You must buy shells from a merchant in Novigrad, then dismantle them and then sell the pearls they contain for a higher price. It works like this:

  • Step 1: Go to the merchant at Hierarch Square in Novigrad. Buy all his Shells and Sea Shells. Buy as many as you can, his inventory will replenish if you exit the shop.
  • Step 2: Go to the armorer right next to the merchant. Dismantle the Shells to get Pearls and Black Pearls.
  • Step 3: Sell the pearls to the armorer until he runs out of money.
  • Step 4: Meditate for 5 days and the armorer will have roughly 1000 coins again. Sell Pearls to him again.
  • Step 5: Repeat.
Tip: Upon arriving in Velen after the introduction, you can swim directly to Novigrad or take a boat to get there.

Buying and dismantling a Shell costs 8 coins. Selling the pearl you get from it gives you 109 coins! That's 101 coins profit per shell!
You can keep doing this for however long you want. Should the merchant not have shells in stock you need to meditate or fast travel to another map, then check again.

Alternate Money and Cow Milk Exploit
[edit]

While not has high profit as the Pearl exploit, you can kill the two cows at the entrance to White Orchard for their pelts to sell and cow's milk to drink. If you meditate for two hours, they will respawn (alongside their fallen brethren). You can then sell the hides for 27 coins a piece, and the milk restores vitality for a whopping 30 seconds. The nearby merchant doesn't have a lot of money to trade, so you'll either have to meditate for five full days, or fast travel to other merchants who will buy the pelts.

As of June 5th, both the shells' and cow's milk gold exploits have been fixed. CD Projekt Red instituted the 'Bovine Defense Force' which spawns high level fiends to avenge fallen cows, or locks the game from any and all actions. (To fix - hold Alt & Tab to exit game. Then enter game again. Load previous Save Point.)

Witcher 3 Merchant With Most Money

Blacksmiths, armorers, innkeepers and herbalists are unique merchant types

Merchants are an important part of the community in Witcher 3. Thanks to them you can not only get rid of useless items, but you can also buy various goods and use the services they offer. The majority of merchants can be found in villages, cities and inns. However, some merchants are travelers and you can meet them in random places while journeying through the game world. Usually they don't offer any unique items but they allow you to replenish basic supplies and remove the 'junk' from your inventory without needing to return to a nearby village. New merchants can appear on the map thanks to securing some abandoned places (locations in which some monsters started to live) and by saving them from imprisonment in cages ('Persons in distress optional locations').

Merchants are divided into various types. Many of them offer various goods, but some of them are specialized in selling some specific items. For example, innkeepers offer mostly food, blacksmiths sell new weapons, armorers armor parts and herbalists alchemy ingredients. Very frequently they are also interested in buying only specific items. For example, the blacksmith might not want to buy herbals from Geralt.

Important! In addition to items in which a specific merchant specializes, look for some special items in his offer. Search especially for new gwent cards and maps that unlock treasure hunt quests.

Important! Merchants offer is partially random generated and can change from time to time. It is wise to come back to the same people and check whether they offer some new items since last visit.

The game always inform you how much gold does a merchant has

The fact that each merchant has a limited amount of gold is a large impediment. Basic merchants usually have from 100 to 200 crowns in their pockets, more wealthy ones usually twice or three times more. It means that you might have trouble with getting rid of all the useless items by selling them to a single person. Especially, if among those items you have some unique artifacts, like a high quality sword. You can deal with this trouble in three ways:

  • Visiting various merchants - You can have few favorite shopkeepers but it is wise to learn about the location of as many merchants as possible and to 'toggle' between them, always going to a different place and visiting different people. Additionally, remember that even after reaching Velen and Novigrad you can still return to White Orchard. In this 'starting' location there are many good merchants.
  • Waiting for the gold supplies at a specific merchant to replenish - You can use the meditation to 'cheat the game' and speed up the process of replenishing the gold supplies. Usually it takes few in-game days so you must use meditation more than once to accomplish the goal.
  • Ordering additional services at the merchants - If a merchant offers services other than selling items you can use them and by doing so increase the amount of gold he will have to buy stuff from Geralt. Those services are, for example, repairing items or creating new crafting items.
